A perfect Silverstone: the weekend that rewrote the F2 record book
Silverstone has crowned champions for three quarters of a century. On the first weekend of July 2026, it watched a 19-year-old rookie from Sofia do something none of them ever managed in Formula 2: win a third consecutive race — and then, a day later, a fourth would have to wait, because he had already won both.
The Sprint Race on Saturday came first. From the reversed-grid battle, Nikola Tsolov carved his way to the front and controlled the closing laps with the calm of a veteran. One hand on the trophy.
Sunday's Feature Race removed all doubt. Managing tyres in changing conditions and holding off a train of experienced rivals, Tsolov took the flag to complete the double — his fifth and sixth wins of a rookie season that has turned the Formula 2 grid on its head.
The records now read: first Bulgarian ever to win in Formula 2, first driver in the championship's history to win three races in a row, and championship leader with 141 points after seven of fourteen rounds.
Next stop: Spa-Francorchamps — the track every driver circles on the calendar, and the place where a fourth consecutive win would extend a record that, a week ago, did not exist.
